Presentation by Bev Hanson Have you ever wondered who designed some of Warrandyte’s beautiful gardens?
Warrandyte landscaper Bev Hanson has been an environmental crusader for Warrandyte for over 40 years. Growing up with a love of gardens that was passed down to her from her mother and grandmother. As a young woman Bev went on to study horticulture, where her passion for garden design flourished. With her husband, John, Bev created an acre of natural-style garden that surrounds their Warrandyte home and which has featured in Australia’s Open Garden Scheme, for visitors to come and explore. Through her own landscape gardening business and reputation as an intuitive, creative gardener, Bev has landscaped Warrandyte High School, Potter’s Cottage, the Mechanics Institute Hall and the garden at the Community Centre, among others. Bev has advocated passionately for over forty years to preserve and honour Warrandyte’s beautiful natural environment, and for garden design to complement and enhance our beautiful town.
